Becoming a generally healthy eater has been a long journey for me - for example, I didn’t start eating vegetables until I graduated from college! I understand how hard it can be to eat healthy and can provide practical tips that actually work.
My experience is wide-ranging.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Penn State University. I then completed my internship to become a Registered Dietitian in Harford County, Maryland.
My career began as a Clinical Dietitian at the largest tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent weaning program in New York State. I worked for patients with diabetes, heart disease, renal disease, cancer, aphasia, among other conditions to optimize their nutrition and improve health outcomes.
After a couple years, I went back to school to work on my Masters in Public Health from New York University. I wanted to get a better understanding of how a person’s socioeconomic status, the environment they live in, and public policy affects their health, and how to work within those different parameters.
While working on my Masters, I transitioned from a clinical setting to a corporate wellness setting. I counseled employees 1:1 in nutrition while leading a team of Registered Dietitians. I’ve also managed programs that addressed various aspects of health including mental health, social wellbeing, and fitness. One thing I enjoyed the most was presenting on nutrition and other wellness topics at departmental meetings. I was able to collaborate with the meeting organizer to tailor the presentation to their employee population, ensuring my message would resonate with them. With my experience I can help you understand the barriers to living a healthy lifestyle and empower you or your group to overcome those barriers.
Along with Pumo Wellness, I work as a Telehealth Dietitian counseling people of various backgrounds as they manage their weight on Anti-Obesity Medications or work to avoid taking these medications. The goal is to provide behavior change counseling that will improve health habits to ultimately result in weight loss, improved glucose control, medication reduction, and an overall improved quality of life in the long-term.
I was born and raised in western Pennsylvania, spent several years in New York City, and currently reside in Denver, Colorado with my two dogs and husband.
Living a healthy lifestyle does not come easy for me.
Growing up in the 90’s with siblings, we were often on the go and taking advantage of the convenience of fast food. I became interested in nutrition when I was playing high school basketball and noticed that what I ate before a game affected how I felt and performed during the game.
